Most of the people in these villages are Sherpas and they follow the Buddhist religion. They celebrate festivals related to their religions.
For example Sherpa celebrate Lhoshar,Mani Rimdu, Dumji, Buddha Birth Day and Tihar. Some of the people like Magar,Dalit, Tamang etc celebrates the same festivals since they were involved in the Sherpa community from the beginning.
They have their own languages, dresses and styles. Sherpas wear a special type of cloth called (Bakhu is the Man wear Cloth Name) (yangi is the Women wear Cloth Name) and other Magar, Tamang, Dalit etc wears clothes like daura suruwal, dhakatopi Dhoti, Sari Phariya etc.
Mani Rimdu Festival Trek: (November- December in Nepal Himalayas)
The Mani Rimdu festival celebrated at Solukhumbu Chiwang Monastery is one of most important religious activities of the entire in Quchomolangmo ,Everest Zoon. The Nyingmapa Buddhist religious Group Manastery was build in 1929, and has became very famous for this sacred dance festival which lasts for three days in the Tenth Sherpa, Tibetan Month ( November-December). The Aim of Mani Rimdu is to expel negative force. During the festival monks present a religious of Buddhism Drama in the form of a mask dance representing divine living beings, Human Beings, their Spiritual Leader Rimpoche Lama reciting all the while a powerful Mantra. The Spiritual Leader Rimpoche Lama of the region is currently Trulsik Rimpoche. Trulsik Rimpoche is the founder of the Thubten Choling Monastery. A Highest Nyaingmapa Buddhist religious Lama, he left Tibet in 1959, following the Chinese colonizes Tibet. Trulsik Rimpoche is one of the spiritual Leader Nyaingmapa Lama for the Sherpa people, which faithfully to used to go to Rongphug Monastery in Tibet at the foot of Quchomolangmo, Everest. This Monastery was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Ngawang Tenzin Norbu, and following his death in the 1940s trulsik Rimpoche became the Nyaingmapa Spiritual Leader Lama. Five hundred monks and nuns are currently living in Thubten Cholling Monastery Nepal.
During the festival dates, all Sherpa people from Solukhumbu- Okhaldhunga- Ramechap- Bojapur gather in the courtyard of the Monastery. As in the of case of the Dumji festival it is an occasions to meet relative long distance living and friends, as well as wishing each other good lucks
